Let it Play

A film about grief, loss and hope.

Let it Play – an exploration of grief, addiction and hope, captured in film, showing how the power of music and dance can heal hearts and souls. Emma - I am a dancer, in 1990 on June 11th, my life would turn on its axis, shattering my world, the man I was in love with would die from a heroin overdose. Ray only 27 years old was a talented guitarist, a young man like so many, with guitar heroes and a dream to be a successful musician. His guitar was a special hand made instrument built by the legendary Tony Zematis, unique. I have held onto this beautiful crafted instrument for over 30 years, shut away in its box like a coffin. The last person to play it was Ray's best friend Kris Dollimore at his wake. It's now time that the instrument comes to life again, we plan to take the guitar to several legendary guitarists, who will play it with improvised instinctive expression, unleashing stories of tenderness and loss. Dance and music have played a significant part in my healing process and coming to terms with the loss. Exploring my grief also led me to a film course, where through the art of film making, a window opened to unlock human stories surrounding loss and addiction. Grief, loss and addiction are subjects that connect us all, particularly at this time in human history. Through the medium of film/music and movement I hope to open up a fragile dialogue bridging the human divide. Rod – Emma came to me with this extra-ordinary story of addiction and loss, and I immediately realised that this was something that was very powerful and needed to be told. We set up a plan to make this happen and now have a trailer to give an idea of the approach of the film and help it film to reach the audience it deserves. Here is a teaser/trailer for our film Let it Play :- https://vimeo.com/1023296741 Each musician that plays the guitar, tunes into its soul, allowing the guitar to speak through them. The guitar acts as a conduit, allowing them to explore music as an emotional release. With your help we will grow and develop the film, to explore issues surrounding addiction and grief and show how the power of music can heal hearts and souls. Movement has become Emma's language through which she expresses all her emotions, and helps others to do the same, she runs the Five Rhythms movement practice in many countries and diverse communities. roadfactoryfilms@gmail.com www.roadfactoryphotos.com/roadfactoryfilms
